Over the past 50 years, no other car has penetrated public consciousness like the Volkswagen Beetle. The past half century of development has seen a numerous changes to the body and mechanics of the Beetle, but has essentially remained the same lovable shape. 22 Million cars later, no other motor manufacturer can claim a similar achievement. There are four main types of VW, called Types 1, 2, 3 and 4 this site will only concentrate on the Type 1 VW. Type 1 VW's are basically the Beetle, Super-Beetle, Bug, Luv-Bug, Kafer, Sedan, Thing, Trekker, Safari, Cabriolette, Karmann Ghia and Pulguita! Type 2's are Vans, Busses, Campers and Kombis, etc. Type 3's are the more later VW's, such as the Notchback, Squareback, Fastback and Variants. And finally Type 4's are the 411 and 412 wagons. |
